for my 125 gal planted native tank

I will be using this pump for my diy wet/dry filter

Mag 9 pump

The filter will be a 35 gal rubber-made container, with 5 gal bucket full of bio media (i saw a thread about one not 2 long ago)

the pump is probably to strong so i will put a valve on it to choke it down.

I'm looking for around 700 gph

what would be a good overflow to use with it.? should i use 2?
I do not want to drill the tank. (insurance reason's)

also how many bio-balls do i need to use? (volume if you plz)

thanks

I have a rio hf17 in my wet/dry at 0 feet it pushes out 1000 gallons but I have at least 5 feet of hose which knocks it down to about 600 or so gph I really do not know what overflow I have but the wet/dry is made by reef lake systems I am very pleased with it and I use the nylon pot scrubbers instead of bio balls alot cheaper and you get the same resultoh yeah this is on a 55 gal tank my flow now isnt too strong I just drilled the holes on my spraybar bigger and that knocked down the current for the fishusing 2 overflows is up to you I am thinking about another myself

thanks for the info

so to be clear you have a 1000 gph (at 0 head) pump on a 55 gal?

I was under the impression that a turnover of 4-5 times an hour was sufficant.

thanks

my tank is heavily planted I also have a whisper 60 in there as well. I always go by 10 times the turnover but thats just memy water is always clear and the fish waste never collects at the bottom
