I am wondering if anyone has had this happen? he is just beating them up and has killed one . now he is working on the other one. He is leaving the fry alone . I need to mover her but i dont have a tank ready. what to do?

Never encountered it with Molly's but I have 2 male cherry barbs that will attack any females I put in the tank. Breeder box or anything you can stick one of them in while you set up other arrangments?

Net out the male, if you have a 10in or larger net, leave him in the net in the water. Rim of net above the surface. It would be less stressful at this point to just contain the mean male than trapping the females.
You can also get any clean plastic container and make many holes all over it, just large enough for water flow, but not to let the fish out.

I constantly have people complain Mollys are aggressive when I sell them.. People come in trying to get rid of them because they claim to kill other fish. Have you tried throwing in an algae wafer to keep them full n busy?

That is so strange. I keep a 55 gallon with about 25-30 black mollies and I've never seen any aggression.

he has managed to kill them both now. I think i will get a breeder net and set it up for him. I am so po'ed at him !! they fry are all doing well. so im just going to cage him while the fry grow out.

What size tank? How is it scaped?

By nature aquarium strains tend to be less aggressive. Aggression in Mollies is not seen as desirable trait, so it has been bred out as much as practically possible.

Wild Male Mollies are aggressive only to females. The recommended ratio is 3 females for every male---then in a large tank.

Subrosa is correct. Tank bred mollies are very a very different fish.

Misogyny in wild male mollies, who would have thunk-it! I just feed my mollies to my african clawed frogs but they always seemed like very peaceful fish to me, I had no idea their wild counterparts were such jerks. : )
