yup, my ADF died, there is still one more and just incase i did a 40 percent water change yesterday after we found him.

paramaters all seem pretty good, water is a little hard but hey, i live in south texas..

before the first little guy died he was hanging out at the top of the tank sitting on my magnet cleaner a lot, i just thought he found a spot that he liked, if anyone has any ideas im up for hearing em.

hoping the second one is fine, but he isnt at the top like the other.

sorry to hear it.
i got a pair of ADFs a little while back too, and they both died about a week apart from eachother. the nightish before they died, they started to float at the top of the water, keeping stable on a plant or something.
i found out that theres some illness with ADFs that's going around and that usually when they float at the top like that, theyre doomed.
some people suggest that before you buy the ADFs, you ask the store people how many people come back with the frogs. i forget the technical term for that.. turnover rate or something maybe?
the frogs didnt effect my fish in any way.
good luck with the other lil guy. they really are very cute.

Sorry to hear about your little froggie . Here's hoping that the other one makes it and is in better health.

Was the frog emancipated? From what I heard about your setup when you first bought them I have difficulty believing it was a lack of food. If it was hanging out at the top/trying to get out of the water there is a good chance of the chytrid fungus. To get rid of it just using heat, you'd have to raise the tank temperature to 100 (yes, 100, the frogs can handle it and the chytrid doesn't die at lower temps, you could isolate the fish) for a week with extra aeration added. There is also an abstract on how to treat with eye ointment going around if you google "cure for the chytrid fungus", though you'd still have to treat the main tank. Before taking any drastic measures if you want to test the frogs first there is a test kit, but it costs $25 to test.

PS they like a PH of 7.5-7.6.

If there were no physical symptoms then this is probably what happened. The bad thing is, you may end up with another dead froggy soon if nothing is done. With the heat treatment, it may be too late, but the other may still work.

^ thats the sickness i was talking about.. the chytrid fungus.

Same thing happened to mine. I got 3 of them for a ten gallon and even though they were very active and ate alot they got the fungus and died. Poor little guys, I miss them.

i saw a adf having a poor little mollie in its jaws and he was just swimming around with the poor mollie...my adfs used to dissapear so i dont get them any more

im fairly sure its the fungus, other one is eating better but still hangs out up at the top with the magnet. we will see, i have started raising the temp and plan to qtank him maybe. guess we will see.
