I thought the tank had fin rot. Now I don't know. Iv'e heard of this but I m not sure how to fix it. Now my fishes eyes are begging to bulge out, Please help!

pop eye is usually caused by poor water quality and the cure is to rectify this as I understand it.

what's your tank size & reading for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate. What are the other inhabitants of the tank, what's your maintenance routine including water changes ?

If your water tests ok (0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, some nitrates) it may be a bacterial infection. I have seen maracyn 2 reccomended as a broad spectrum anti-bacterial treatment. Be sure about your water (good liquid drop test kit) before you go a-medicating.

popeye can be caused by several factors.

poor water conditions is one, as is injury..simply put it is an infection. it can be either interanl or external.
I just treated one angel that had an eye infection from injury..spawning rituals can casue this. the tank gets 2 water changes per week..with the injury I bumped the water changes to 50%(normally 30%)

here's the catch..while it can be treated with meds..many times with the proper water conditions it can heal on it's own.

btw maracyn II seems to work well with infections as does maracyn.
if you use these keep an eye on the water parameters as they are antibiotics and can affect the cycle.

I had never seen popeye until I bought some Bolivian Rams and Kribensis. The Rams eyes were horrible, and they had white patches with bloody streaks in them. The Krib's eye just popped out (one eye); I still have nightmares of him peeking out from behind a plant leaf. I added Nitra-Zorb to my canister and ParaGuard to my tank after the next weekly water change. I haven't had a recurrence besides the two incidents after adding new fish, but I did lose all of the fish that were affected.
