For the last week or so I've been forced to keep my betta, two anubias nana plants, an amazon sword baby and a marimo in a small crittercage.

Everythings been doing well and growing substantially. But seemingly overnight both my anubias plants became govered in a white fuzzy substance. Their rhizomes aren't even green. When I picked up the rock they're attached to, all the leaves but one fell off one of the plants.

As a precaution, I took the plants out of the tank and put them in another container.

Any suggestions?

I can take pictures if needed but not right now cuz I have class.

Did you bury the rhizome? Mine is about 2" above the substrate and sends out roots. Water is able to circulate and I have had no problems. Yes a pic would help. can you rinse the white stuff off? Could it be uneaten food trapped and rotting?
Just some thoughts.

I had an anubias that had some kind of rot. The leaves started falling off, rhizome tip rotted too., no white fungus that I recall. The rhizome had a brown center so I cut it back to what looked like healthy tissue but I eventually lost it.

If the rhizomes aren't green it's doubtful it'll come back to life. Bummer! Do you think it might be this icky heat? People grow them in discus tanks so it'd have to be really hot...has been up north here.

I suppose we could trade. I have 4 or 5 different anubias plants in my tank, and for the last several months they have been alternately rotting or getting overrun by algae. In the last few weeks, every one has started sprouting and rooting like crazy. Nothing should have changed their behavior so much I that I can guess.

I went to Petco and picked up an amazing deal on a 2.5 gallon mini-bow tank for half off. What would have cost 44 dollars only cost 22.

I tried to rinse off one of the plants but it just turned to mush. The other one is okay so I just put it in the new tank.

No, the rhizome isn't buried.

Thanks for all the help.
