Are there any popular brans silicone tubes out there that are safe for aquariums?? In having a very hard time finding special silicone specifically for tanks, and all the indoor/outdoor window MoNo brand silicones have very bad sounding warnings labels on them. That doesn't sound like something id want to use on a tank, but then again - it may be the company being precautious?? I know enough that you definitely cant use the bathroom stuff because of the bacteria killing stuff that kills mold and mildew. I just need to find SOMETHING.

And ordering online isn't an option for me. :P

Where do you live? You will need to buy aquarium silicone and most true fish stores carry it. You will not find it at a home depot, everything they carry is bad for your fish.

I actually recall seeing a tiny tube of silicone for fish tanks a while back now that I think of it at walmart. Its about 2/3s the size of a tube of toothpaste. Will this be enough to do a 20 gal??

Yeah that should be more than enough to do a tank, it should run about $4-$6 for that tube. You do not need to use that much just a nice small bead on all the seams. Make sure to follow the instructions on how to clean the tank prior to application and you should be just fine.

Not true. They do carry silicone that's safe for aquariums. I believe that it goes under the genrality of "bathroom" silicone. All you have to do is read the labels. You already know that you're looking for silicone and not caulking, and you already know that you don't want anything anti-bacterial or anti-mildew.

At our local hardware store I was able to find 2 tubes the fit the above description, all I had to do was read the backs. One clearly said right near the top "Not for use in aquariums" and the other said "safe for use in aquariums". Pretty simple, n'est pas?

None of the silicone tubes said not for /or /aquarium safe. DO you know what brand it was happychem??

I don't off the top of my head. This was over a year ago when I was putting a new bottom into a cracked tank. I can check it out for you and get back to you later. Drop me a PM if I don't reply in a day, I'm a bit of a scatter brain ;)
