Why is it that the Marineland 350 doesnt have a spray bar like the Emperor 400? I have the 350 and love it. Just seems to me that the 400 spraybar would clog up?

Is this correct? Im just wondering what the purpose of the spraybar is.

Thanks,

Ryan

because the 350 is a penguin and the 400 is an emperor, different models. the emperor is a "fancier" model than the penguin is. I keep both (actually penguin 330's, the older models). They both work well in my experiences. the spray bars will clog from time to time depending on filtration. I run an emperor 400 and a bio-wheel pro 60 on a 60 gallon. Both filters have the spray bars. the emperor 400 doesn't seem to clog as often as the bio-wheel pro does but I'm not exactly sure why. no big deal though, takes about 2 minutes to yank the spray bars out and run a brush down them to clean out the holes. different tanks and different water will have different results so you can't compare one against another really. the marineland filters are my favorite type, only problem I have is the filter inserts don't clean as well. I use an aftermarket brand of filter I buy from an LFS. I'm not sure who makes them but they use a finer floss that is on both sides of the pad. I've done comparisons using both penguin 330's and emperor 400's using one factory filter and one aftermarket and the aftermarket catches more than 2 times the dirt than the factory filter. the only other problems I've had was when I had a lot of junk buildup down in the impeller hole but a good cleaning with hot water and it was back to new. this was after 2 years running.
