Hi, this is the first time of ventured into the plant forum.

For my 55 which I'm setting up, I'm thinking of getting plants. I like how they look, and I like how fish benefit from them.

Are there any plants which don't need super-intense lighting, and are low maintenance (no CO2 injections, etc.)

Thanks!

yeah of course. all the anubias species, java moss and fern, a lot of crypts and tons of others depending on what you are looking for.

I've got 3 small tanks ( Two 10 Gallons and a 20 Gallon Long) with low light (1.5 to 2 WPG of NO T12s), no CO2 growing Ludwigia Repens, 4 various species of Crypts, Didiplis Diandra, Rotala Indica, HC, Hygrophila Difformis and Alternathera Reneicki with no algae. I do use Excel and do weekly 30-50% water changes and dose macros once a week. Growth is slow but steady. The 20Long actually looks as good as my High light, pressurized CO2 30 long.

Fred, (off topic, but closely related)
You could use a fermentation co2'er for your tank. You would have to adjust your HOB filter though so it wasnt disturbing the surface so you don't lose too much co2. Also, if you were to use co2, you would need to keep an eye on pH.

how'd you see that post so fast!!!
Well on the co2, youd get better results, and you have everything you need lying around the house.

If you want low light plants, !no! red leaves.
