A week ago I purchased a rubber lipped plico. at my lofs and brought him home to live happily with my recently sat up55 gal community tank. That was on a Friday night, the next morning I woke up and he was gone. I think he went up inside of a tall rock structure, but I am not sure. That was 8 days ago, and still no sign of him. If he got stuck in the structure and died, will his dead body through of the balance of my tank?

Bewildered and confused…..

it could cause some trouble, I would suggest pulling up the structure and seeing if he comes out, Or looking for bones  OR, checking around the outside of the tank, just to be sure he didn't jump out

I had this same thng to happen witha pleco. It went up inside a piece of hollow driftwood and got stuck. I couldnt find him sa i thought he had died and my other fish ate him. I took down the tank a few months later and fiound his bones inside of the fake driftwood.

If this is a new aquarium, and probably even if it is not, you should find him and remove him immediately if he is dead. Is there a possibilit that he is just hididng?

I hope that's not what happened to the little guy! I have 2 rubberlips in my 125g and I rarely see them... they hide in all kinds of things and they blend in so well, the only time I see them is when I'm messing up the whole tank during a gravel vac... Hopefully he's just hiding!

:)

I came home from work last night to find a lost friend in the tank. My lost rubber lip pleco. deciced to come and revisit us. It will be 4 weeks since I have seen him. Oh well live and learn. :bday:

LOL!! Good to hear, I wondered for a while if my bristlenose was a goner, he was MIA for a while, and I usually see him quite a bit so I was worried
