My water in my little tank looks just a little cloudy, I mean that it just insnt crystal clear as it has been. It has been going for 3 days now. I could have sworn that the girl at the LFS told me that due to the filter being live, that I should wait 3-4 weeks for a water change...

Would this be good advice? This filter is a loaner due to my tank not having all the advertised parts. This filter was established, (as a display) but was forced to remove due to corporate decision.

According to my test strips nothing is terribly out of wack tho.

The cloudy water may be the sign that bacteria are starting up (part of the cycle). As you have fish-in during your cycle, you need to do liquid testing for ammonia levels daily. Anything over .25 ppm means you need to do a partial water change, or your fish will be injured & can die.

Was the established filter kept moist with tank water until you could install it?

Are you using a dechlorinator/water conditioner like Prime, Amquel or Aquasafe? Chlorine & chloramine from your tap will kill any established bacteria, meaning you will need to cycle from scratch.

Test strips are notorious for being unreliable, but I've never used them myself. I encourage you to buy API's test kit which will allow you to test for all 3 stages of the cycle.

:screwy: So if it is a bacterial bloom, where is it all going to go? What will replace that and where will that all go?

The growth/reproduction of microorganisms in the water make it cloudy. This is normal. Left alone, these bacteria will be consumed by other bacteria and a "food chain" will be established. This is what happens when you cycle your tank. Ammonia is consumed by bacteria & nitrite is released, nitrite is then consumed by different bacteria, who release nitrate. Nitrates are removed with scheduled water changes.

I recommend reading RBishop's thread on cycling *points to sticky thread*

Actually I have read the cycling post multiple times, seem that my bloom is getting quite huge now, it has gotten cloudy enough that I can see the difference with only dim light in the room.

I am ready for bed now, see how the fishies are in the morning...

I would tell you to just ignore it for awhile, but you're cycling fish-in right? Well, it'll probably get cloudier before it clears up... as long as you watch ammonia levels & do water changes for your danios, you'll be fine.

cloudier as predicted

Well when looking through the light it looks like smoke circulating from the bottom up to the top in a almost wispy appearance. I got a few plants today, help or hurt I dont know. Two Java Fern and Anubis(what ever). I have been reading that they are really easy plants and they can really help aquarium health.
