Looking for Unusual Tank Cleaner Idea's That Can Survive Oscars!

still playing with wet spots
.... obviously; Ghost shrimp are out of the question and I have Pleco's, a Cory, and a Spiny eel that pokes around in the gravel, the Ghost knife hides to much to do any real good, and I really don't want anything like Apple or Mystery Snails ...

What else is there that I may be over looking (preferably under $100.00 USD)?

Maybe its just because I'm a big chicken, but I wouldn't put anything else in with the Oscar (unless the tank is really really Really big!) You may also want to move the Ghost Knife to a separate tank so he won't get picked on by the Oscar.
Again, not sure, I stay away from the fish that bite me at work :(

Okay..not a sarcastic answer here....but a good ole gravel vac and water changes with controlled feeding.

1 cory? Try adding atleast 5 more, and you'll see their schooling effects and they'll munch down on any uneaten food in their way.

a corydoras is a snack for an oscar. adding any more would not be a good idea.

how big is the tank you have?

the pleco should be doing a sufficient job, but your best bet is frequent gravel vacs.

First off let me describe who is in this tank already ...

I have (all are babies more or less - the population for a future 200 gallon or larger aquarium) an Albino Tiger Oscar, a Red Oscar, a Cory, 3 Pleco's (1 albino Bristle Nose, one so called Rhino, and a spotted one[my common is on loan to the local lake]) 2 Blood Parrot Cichlids, a Black Ghost Knife, a Rope Fish, a Bichir, a Peacock eel, and 4 Green Tiger Barbs.

The reason I am looking for something UNUSUAL is not because I need it ... yet!

What I am thinking is that when I get the bigger tank it may help a little to keep everything a bit cleaner.

As for water changes and gravel cleaning - I happen to like that! It's fun and rewarding to see a nice tank looking good!

As you may notice I am into less common fish (in a couple of my tanks) ... I am just fishing for the unusual idea ....... that's all!

Just looking for some Unusual -----> :bling:

So; what is some wild looking flash for a big tank?

I want something a lot more unusual that a snowball or golden nugget pleco!

If it's more than $100.00 it is alright if it's real unique!

the way i see it, a common pleco that has attained an unhibited tankbusting size is pretty rare.. and if you have a tank to keep it in, it would be alright with an oscar, depending on the oscars personality.

My Cory is the oldest fish I own and the Oscars do not bother it at all!

One thing many people do not realize about MOST Oscar's is that you can keep them less aggressive if you do just 2 things:

1 - Don't make them go all day without food.
2 - Change the set up at least every few weeks - no territory means nothing to fight for.
Just my 2-bit's about Oscar's!

... but common plecos can be had for a few dollar's and the one I have loaned out has gone from about 3 and a half inches in January to over 7 inches today ...

besides - I have another common pleco in my feeder Guppy's breeder tank too ...

hmmm.... for that stock a 200G sounds borderline too small, seeing as the ghost knife may very well get around 20", and the bichirs and peacock eel will probably get over a foot long. seriously... sooner or later your barbs and cory are going to be snacks.

oh god don't tell me you released your pleco into a lake...:eek3:
