NO.

if you've seen fish you'd like to try in your tank, please do some research on them before purchasing them.

you may be able to keep 1 dwarf gourami in a 10g, OR a small shoal of smaller tetras (6 of them), but a jack dempsey is definitely out as well as a dragon fish. mollies frequently get to 3" and while you could theoretically keep one in a 10g, they would fare much better in a 20g or larger.

To add to what lunch box said
Mollies are also brackish water fish completely diffrent water type then the others. Jack Dempsey gets between 8-10" so it wouldnt even be able to turn around in the tank. Dragon Fish? Im asuming bichar? They get to 18" so again no way.

For a 10 gallon it all depends on your tastes. You do some Tetras like some neons and a couple black skirts. You could also do some danios and cherry barbs. Look at the species profiles here pick a few fish you like and go with them. Just be careful about over stocking its easy to do in a 10 gallon tank.

what I am doing in my 10g - I started off with my 3 male guppies (whom I really have come to love), last night I added my powder blue gourami. I will wait 2 weeks to make sure everythings stabalizes and everyone gets along. The I will be adding 4 panda cories (IF I can find them!!)

Good luck.

If you don't want a guorami you could look into a German Blue Ram.

1 PB Gourami

I had been tempted to try that with my 10g, but I believe rams need a little more space than a 10g can provide for their personal territory. By that I mean actual tank footprint type space.

a typical 10g is only 20"x10" (roughly) and unless I'm mistaken german blues get to be about 2-2.5" and really benefit from more room to roam than 200 square inches. I would think a 15-20g would be better for a ram than a 10g.

I'm sure a ram can fit in a 10g, but whether it's the best thing to do is another question. They would probably be much happier in a larger tank. add to that the fact blue rams are notoriously tempermental with water quality I wouldn't recommend them to any beginner.

I bought my blue ram for 10 bucks, and almost lost him to questionable water quality that wasn't affecting my other fish... he was just way more sensitive. kind of an expensive fish to get if you're not sure you can keep the water clean enough for them if you know what I mean ;)

I'm pretty much with everybody else here...

...10 gallon tanks are, for the most part, a 1-fish deal (except for really small fish, or fry). It almost seems that anything bigger than a Betta or Dwarf Gourami should go in a bigger tank. I saw a 3-spot Gourami in a 10-gal tank, and he looked patently unhappy.

I'll second a Betta. Ghost Shrimp (w/ hiding places) are good companions, will pick stuff up (they never sleep), and add almost nothing to the bio load.

In my 10 gal. I have 5 neons, 2 oto cats, and 2 platies, in a heavily planted tank. I think I'll add 2 more neons, just to give them a better school, then that will be enough.
