Hello AC. My first post so bear with me.
I'm just about to start my new project, a 10 gal paludarium. And I am looking for a small frog to inhabit my tank. I was hoping that someone might recommend a good on-line merchant? I'm trying to get a good idea whats available so I know what species to research. Any suggestions on what type of frog I should keep would be awsome too!

The setup will be about half water half land. The water section will be sepperated in half also, with a small rapids section deviding them. So the water will flow down the waterfall, from one end of the tank, over the small rapids section to the other end. From there through an overflow cut in the deviding wall and back to the pump. So the bottem back section will act as a sump of sorts.

The top sketch is a top view, The bottem is a front view.

The land section will be built up on egg-crate or something simmilar, and drain into the "sump" underneth it. I'm hoping to utilize the plants ability to bio-filter the water by setting up some sort of artificial rain, split off from the single pump, that will drip down on the plants and drain down through the roots and back to the "sump". Probably add some extra filtration in somewhere. not sure on that yet.

Sofar, I know I will be putting a small school (8) of what I believe to be zebra danio's. The lfs, my only supply of fish in the area, happens to be a larg department store. So as you might guess, they are not labeled very well. The tag says assorted danios, I'm guessing here.

Anyway sorey to go on like that, but I figured, The more info I can suply the better. Thanx for your time AC!

A 10 is pretty small for most species of tree frogs. I think you should go with Oriental Fire Bellied Toads. They're fairly common in the pet trade so if you can find a pet store near you they may have them. If not, there's always kingsnake.com for all your amphibian and reptile needs. :D

+1 on the FBTs... Tree frogs do not swim well and could easily drown in a palu setting. They also need much more room than 10g and they need height, not surface area.

The only drawback is that they may eat your fish. You also want good filtration as they are messy and exude toxins from their skin that can poison the fish, although many people successfully keep fish and FBTs together. Frequent water changes can help also.

Thanks for the advice guys.
Is there perhaps another amphibian that might be better suited for the environment I have to offer? I'm really open on what to put in this setup. I need a good beginner amphib that won't eat the fish and spends some time in the water. I'm going to do some research on the fbt. Thanks a bunch!

You are going to have a hard time finding something that will not eat your fish, although certain newts might be the way to go.
