Hey guys. I got my tank about 4 weeks ago, and currently have 6 guppies, 1 female fighter, 1 black red tailed shark, and a rock shrimp. They are all getting on fine which is great, but i'd like to get a blue lobster too. Is this safe, or will the other fish be at risk?
Cheers guys, Dan

It'd help to know the size of the tank. In a small tank I wouldn't do it, he'd likely catch and eat your fish. In a larger tank you still run that risk, there's just more room to avoid him. I don't think it's a good idea for a community tank.

It would take relatively little time for that 'lobster' (actually a crayfish) to catch and dissemble pretty much all your fish, beginning with the betta and shrimp.

Thanks guys, I wont get the 'Crayfish' until I have a bigger tank and no community fish. Do you think I could keep puffers with one? I really want a puffer, but know I cant keep them in a community tank,
Dan

Wow that was badass. Aside from that happening, all normal puffers are brackish or marine. The dwarfs are freshwater, but I think they still are better off in species tanks also.

ive had a crayfish in with tetras and ghost shrimp and he never killed anything, hed jump at them but fish are too fast as long as theres alot of open space so your fish cant get cornered they should be okay, but theres always a chance he might catch something

There are multiple species that actually require freshwater conditions to survive. They're just not the ones commonly seen in the pet shops.
