How long should lights be on on a marine tank?
I have both daylight/blue and bluemoon T5 tubes.
It is a 3ft tank and there are 4x twin tube 16" 36w daylight/blue and 2x twin tube 16" 36w bluemoon tubes.
In the tank is live rock, fish and,so far, soft corals.

12 hours on/off is fine and is how it is in the tropics.

with corals its a minimun of 6 hours and a max of 18... so you choose what is right for you.. but if you plant to get a the more harder corals then its best you run a 12 hour cycle... FO tanks really dont matter... just use the lights to look at your fishes

8-12 hours is the reg...not counting moon lights with them u can consider it 24 hours...but thats another story.

I like to stay more in the 8 hour range but thats just me.

i run my actinics for 10 hours, and my other lights for 8 hours per day. i don't use my moon lights at all. i find that when i run my moon lights at night my corals don't open as much during the day.

i run mine near enough the same as dmjordan...10 hour actinics and 8 hours MH..moonlight through the night...
