okay, my new 60 gallon has been set up for about a month now, penguin 350 and aquatech 15 on it, 100 watt heater.
i seeded it with the aquatech and some media from a different tank, and it's doing great, i'm going to take the aquatech off soon.

inhabitants are 2 smaller angelfish, an opaline gourami, which was a surprise from my boyfriend, and a male swordtail.
i don't seem to be having any problems as of now with any behaviors.
i feed them frozen brine shrimp and flake every night.

and i plan on getting 5-8 khuli loaches as well.

now, i'd really like a school of something, mid level.
of the tetra variety, perhaps.
i was wondering what tetra doesn't nip fins and would get big enough to stand a chance against the others?
i really like the rummynose, but i don't know if they get big enough?
thanks.

Look into lemon tetras or congo tetras. Both don't look all that impressive in the store, but they color up quite nicely at home.

None of the fish you have are particularly aggressive, but Angels (and most other fish for that matter) will eat whatever they can fit in their mouths.

that's why i was worried about the size of the tetras, since most are small or nip fins.
but congos and lemon's won't nip?

I have lemon tetras and bleeding heart tetras with my angels. Never had any problem. Totally true about the lemon tetras, they look very bland in the store, but colour up quite nicely at home.

haha, alright.
well, i'll keep that in mind, but what's the consensus on the rummynose tetras?
do they get big enough/do they nip?
i really like them..

I have had Diamond Tetras and Black Neons w/ my angel and neither are fin nippers and big enough to not be snacks!

Rummynose tetras are fine, I have them in with my angel and they do not nip at all, and the angel ignores them.

Make sure that if you get Rummynose tetras that you acclimate them very very slowly, they are very sensitive fish. Once you get them in and used to your tank, they are great, they school very tightly. The one negative that you might find is that they are more of a low level fish, mine rarely stray above the bottom third of the tank.

I also have black neons in my tank, and they are everywhere, not nippy, and like lemon tetras also color up really nicely.

well thank you all very much. maybe i'll get a smaller school of two different tetras.
