Large Capacity Rock tumbler?
I'm not sure if this is the right place for a thread like this, if not, please correct me.

Does anyone know where I can find a large capacity/commercial rock tumbler?

Anything that holds over a few cups of material (unlike those cheap childrens kits)

Thank you

If you're looking for a big commercial lapidary, I don't think anyone makes such a thing. If you're looking to just tumble a bunch of stuff at once, go hit home depot for a home/contractor mini cement mixer.

The cement mixer should work. All a tumbler is is something spinning around with different grit in with the rocks to polish them. If you tipped the mixer upright, so the hole is near the top, you should get the same effect....and BTW, what are you using it for? You have my curiousity peaked now!

Loaded ammo!

Possibility that the bullet point could hit a primer...

Question-do you use a wet/liquid solution to polish? A brass tumbler (as this one is) uses a walnut shell or corn cob media, dry.

Dirty tarnished brass (the fired cartridges) go in dirty and come out shiny the next morning (I run the thing overnight at my shop while I'm at home; tis a tad loud!)

I wouldn't tumble C-4 either.....LOL!

Just throw a bunch of rocks in your dryer and let it run for a week or 2. :D

Have you checked ebay?

Also, it would not be hard to make your own rock tumbler. All you need is a barrel or round container of some sort, a motor, and a belt or chain to spin the barrel. Shoot you could make a real noisemaker with a big steel barrel, a lawnmower motor, a set of motorcycle sprockets and a chain. I'm sure your neighbors will appreciate it. lol
