Jaguar cichlid

For a male min tank would be a 90 gallon for a female a 60 gallon for a pair about a 120 gallon these are minimums bigger is better.

Tank Size for Jag's

Aloha!

I agree strongly with GER 1023! As a devoted Managuense "keeper... "(Yes, they are a blessed creature not unlike a cat who is an individual!) May I also suggest that it be taken into consideration that You will want to provide a "Sanctuary"for your Jag(s). In choosing, Glass tanks: Rocks and Caves must be provided. If placed in relation to their size and expected growth and territorial nature, can spread out far and take up a considerable amount of space. Often scratching and marring the glass at support points. This can be unsightly. I've tried all kinds of combinations in raising my jag from Juvi to adult.
20 Gallon to 125 Gallon. If you can afford it, Bigger IS Better! to provide the best for these incredible species. I am going to build my own tank eventually, Inside a 20 foot wall and make it a 500 to 800 gallon. There has got to be a way to provide for our "babies" without being ripped off! Good Luck!

I'd say that you could get away with a 75 gallon tank for awhile. Your going to need to upgrade the tank. I'd think of anywhere between 90-100 gallons would be good.

I didn't know they needed that much space. For the time being,it would be living in a prison till i find space for a tank.

um a 90G has NO advantage over a 75G. they are both the same footprint. 90G is just 4" TALLER which makes no difference.

TTMAN that name stands for something nasty huh. Oh anyways a 90gal does have an advantage over the 75 one the fish could swim up more and two which is most important a ninty could hold a bigger bio-load that a 75 so a 90 is better then a 75 or else there would either just be a 90 or a 75 not both. Bigger fish bigger bio-load bigger bio-load bigger tank. Get it Got it Good. Point Proven I think.

WTF what does my name have to do w/this arguement??? ger could stand for something nasty too, like gerbils. but FYI my name stands for TWIN TURBO MAN, of which I own 2 cars of, both TWIN TURBOED. BTW a 90G is a WASTE of money over a 75G. and NO, it ain't gonna hold much more then a 75G. if u got 2 big nasty cichlids in a 75G, having a 90G doesn't mean u can throw in 2 more (or even 1 more)... fish, esp. cichlids DON'T CARE about height. their claim to territory is on the ground level. ....never known a cichlid to claim... ...the upper half of the tank.

Sorry about the name thing kick back bro. No but the 90gal does hold a bigger bio-load is what Im getting at but for like you said like territory yeah its true it is pretty much useless. Me myself would pay abit more but I do that I might just get something bigger then a 120gal. Just me. Oh and my name is for my Initials. Really sorry about that again man. Oh and yes I know you cant add more fish in a 90 then a 75gal unless its small myrule of thumb unlike the 1 gallon per in mine is 5 gallons per in for a minimum so a 90gal could hold like 3in more of fish then the 75gal which is pretty much not much at all. But point well maid.
