Is the Angelfish compatible with Zebra Danios? - Stocking a 20 gallon tank...

Hi everyone, I have a 20-gallon (tall) freshly cycled tank, which I cycled with 4 zebra danios. Now is time to stock it and I was thinking of getting 2 angelfish, but I read mixed opinions online about their compatibility. Some places say they're compatible, others say they are not. So are they?

If not, I'm at loss how to stock my tank -- I want something pretty if not graceful like the angelfish, then very colorful -- ideas?

I also don't want to get rid of my zebra danios, they're cute! But would consider getting a 10-gallon and putting them in there with a betta or something.

Opinions would be helpful, I'm new to this but read SO MUCH about it, books, online, everything, so feel like I know enough not to kill my fish, don't want to overstock, will keep up with water changes, etc. The only reason I don't get a bigger tank is that I have absolutely no room for it...

HEY

I do not know alot about angles but 2 of my uncles show tanks have angles in them i do not know how big the tanks are (over 55 gal at least)

I would say don't keep angles in a 20g but iunno for sure, and u also have to remember that if u r used to keepin danios that they are very easy to take care of and if u jump right in to angles they may died on u because they are a lot harder to take care of then danios

But ya if ya do wanna keep them together anyway they sould be fine

20 gallons is too small for even one angel...

Personally I like 20's with a species tank of a schooling fish ...

I would agree that a 20 would be too small for an angel. You could do a pretty good sized group of danios in there though.

I don't know how well they would do with danios, but a dwarf gourami has very pretty coloring and would do nicely in a 20G tank.

you can keep a pair of angels in a 20..however, it is no easy task. some breeders use 20's for breeding.but these are bare bottom and the water is changed daily.(20 talls)
in your case I would suggest a 30 would be a better fit.

I heard that dwarf gouramis don't really like to be with danios, as dwarfs are slow moving fish and danios move too fast and so the gouramis spend all their time hiding!

You could just go with several types of danios, they come in different colorations, and with long fins.

yes, 20 gal is too small for an angelfish. They can get to be at least six inches in diameter. Also they will eat small fish such as danios. They seem to love tetras which are close, except maybe a hair slower at swimming.

I just wanted to clarify that they love to EAT neon tetras. Most other tetras should be just fine with them as long as the tetras aren't nippy.
