Probably a stupid question, but I thought it would be best to ask.

the metal kind rusts, so no on that kind.. i dont know about the other kind though.

It's a charcoal colored fiberglass screen. Nothing is metal. I certainly wouldn't buy a screen for my window that would rust either. I was just concerned about anything leaching out into my water.
Well you say it's safe. I say it looks safe. I read that it was safe for a few other people. I'm going to assume it's safe. I went ahead and added it to my tank. We'll see how it works out.
Thanks

Please let me know the result. What, may I ask, are you using it for? I am always looking for another material suitable for submersion.

No problem, I'll PM you in a couple weeks to let you know it's going well, or I'll post a thread to notify all about the dangers of fiberglass in the aquarium.

I'm using it to build a moss wall. I used rigid cross stitching mesh for the back and fiberglass screen for the front. All materials were very cheap, so I hope it works. I have a lot of screening left. I'm sure there are a million-plus uses for it.

If it rusted it wouldnt be all that good for windows either...
Yes I've used fiberglass screen in tanks before, at least without any apparent problems.

While what you say is true, it should be noted that metal screening is usually galvanized, which is definitely NOT okay to put in a fish tank.

Fiberglass screening should be fine in a fish tank, just make sure (as with anything) that you wash and rinse it well before adding.
