Is there a way to do this? I'm just curious because I'm really eager to do this and I'm breeding them. And i always ensure to reach their optimum health through diet (tubifex worms and flakes) and water change. I see changes in their growth but not development.

My tank is 10 gallons and it has 8 mollies (2 males and 6 females) and 4 guppies (1 male and 3 females). I will get a bigger tank soon (a friend offered me to buy his 75 gal aquarium with a stand.)

Thank you for your advice.

Depending on the bloodline and genes involved, there will only be so much you can do to improve the look and finnage of your fish. A proper and varied diet can help to bring out the colors and display of the fish, but for example, just feeding lots of the right foods can't turn a regular molly into a sailfin, or create a super-delta tail guppy. Those type of characteristics have to be brought out through selective breeding through several generations.

Considering you're working with the correct strains and types to begin with, nothing beats lots of space, clean water, and a high protein diet for creating optimal growth. For sailfin mollies, the space factor is extremely important, and despite any possible genetic potential, you surely won't be raising any lookers in a 10 gallon tank. Keep in mind that an adult male sailfin molly can easily reach 4 inches, and females can get close to 5.

Yes, i have the right breed and strain... a white and a dalmatian male sailfin which I treasure so much (since they're very rare in the Philippines and could only find a few) and the are females. I bought a 50 gallon 2 weeks ago (and it's already cycled) and it has been in use for a week now. i see changes in their size but only a little (it's good news though).

Thanks for your advice, guys!
