IGFA World Record Silver Arowana

not going to lie, it would be pretty sweet to be able to throw out a line in a lake and catch a silver aro.
Go to South America and you can. I recently took a trip to Hawaii and was able to catch some sweet peacock bass on a fly rod..
 
This thread was great timing.I just watched river monsters on animal planey last night and Jeremy wade was in south america trying to catch one.The thing about it was where he was fishing you couldn't use a rod so he had a hook and some line and pulled one in that was around 6 feet and 220lbs bare handed!!!
 
That was an Arapaima not an Arowana.

Yea, kinda like a Leopard Shark and a Whale Shark are the same family of fish. One stay relatively small while the other gets huge.
 
Yeah. thats more like it. 4' is what I thought. asa boy I remember a 40+" Nothern Pike and in my boyish mem. its a 10' equivelent Super-beast. I tried to rip his teeth out asa prize and its lower jaw came off. I kept the Pike jaw ina jar for afew years till a lil brother or burnout opened the jar and my mom made me throw it out. LOL lol LOL---> Did you hear about the 6'er I had in my 4' tank<--LOL sum more
