I have three adf's and I would like to breed them. I just read that they begin breeding at about 9 months of age... does anyone know about what age they are when pet stores carry them? How much do breeders usually let them mature before selling them to pet stores? I don't know if anyone knows about this, just curious how much longer I will be waiting for them to breed. I just bought them several weeks ago.

Well usually they go to the pet store right when they're big enough to sell. So if you can find out how fast they grow in a growth chart or something then maybe you can get a rough estimate based on size. I don't know much about frogs yet but I'm sure someone will chime in with a possible age =) good luck with the breeding. I'm hoping to breed some specific here soon

You feed them well, change water often, and have a good temp---They will grow faster and be ready to breed sooner.

Hmm, it seems to me like they're about 5 or 6 months old at the shop. After a few months the males arms will be built up, they grow bumps underneath and they're good to go. Mine always get in the mood after a good meal of bloodworms and a water change, but the young ones may need some practice to get it right. tee hee

johnathon, they really vary a lot. I have some that are light, and some in between, but they seem to lighten up a bit with age.

IMO--They are darker if less light and darker gravel (to hide better).
