How often to feed apple snails?

I have a new apple snail for my fishtank. Ive been feeding him one algae wafer a day which he munches voraciously. I was wondering if I need to feed him more than this? And what other foods would be appropriate?

Hi, I feed mine daily, mainly veggies including blanched spinach, kale, cucumber & carrots. I feed algae wafers 3x a week I have cuttlebone in my tank too for calcium.

Nice. I put a dime sized piece of cuttlebone in the filter by the mechanical area so the flowing water runs through it. Is that effective or do you put it directly in the tank?

I put mine in the gravel with a part of it sticking out mine like to nibble on it lol just keep checking it to make sure it doesn't start too rot

Apple snails should be fed daily. Fruits and veggies along with sinking fish foods like algae wafers and sinking pellets are good. The cuttle bone will probably do more good in the tank where the snail can eat on it, It's debatable how much calcium it puts in the water from the filter. I also fed my snails weekend feeders, because of the calcium in the covering around the fish food. www.applesnail.net is a great site for learning about apple snails. They used to be very active, but have slowed down a lot since the government cracked down on snail shipping/selling. (they finally decided you no longer need permits for p. diffusa (aka brigs), but the original damage was done )

Welcome to the giant snail club! They should be fed some lettuce (best served using a clip) and part of an algae wafer every day.

I use vegi clips too much easier! Mine also love grapes & raspberries, actually they,ll eat anything I offer them lol
