How much do halfmoon bettas usually cost?

I made my boyfriend bring me to Petco today because we hadn't made our weekly trip in quite sometime (I like to look at the cats) and to my surprise they have halfmoon bettas there for something like 14.00$. I found a *beautiful* all white halfmoon betta and fell in love. Of course he wouldn't let me buy it because it was an expensive betta and we don't *really* have room for it but I know we can make room for it and I really want it...

So I'm just wondering how much these guys usually cost because this fish was gorgeous!!!

It does seem kind of silly to me to spend that much money on a betta though, after spending so much money on my SW fish. I can't help it, I love bettas and I need more!
 
are the white ones more expensive than the colors like white and red because I was looking at a breeder who had the other red and blue halfmoons at like 15 dollars but the white ones at 40, so would I be getting lucky getting a white one at 14.00 from petco? lol
 
Hmmm. Depends on the betta. Are his fins in good shape? Does he look healthy? It's rare to find a HM in an LFS here. Sounds like a Platinum to me. I buy mine from Thailand, and they cost me more than $15. And there's always room for another betta!! :)
 
If I divide up the costs for my 4 bettas coming from thaliand, my white halfmoon is costing me like $40 lol so yeah if he's in great shape with a nice tail then I'd say it's TOTALLY worth it haha.
 
I would have definately bought it, pure white bettas are very hard to come by.

Good idea. Keep an eye out for fin rot and ich. Where are you gonna put him? Not in the 55G :grinyes:

no smarty pants... I still haven't decided. see, I have *really* wanted to start a sweet planted tank witha betta and some cories because from the pics I see on here cories are sooo cute! but.... I have my other two bettas in the 10 gallon and I don't know what I would do with them. I do have a 10 gallon QT tank... that is suppoosed to stay that way. I have some spare 1 gallon death traps as well. I might have to buy a 5 gallon tank and just put him in there, don't really know yet, lol.
