How many Yellow labs an i keep in 35 gallon tank? What other cichlid species can I have in 35 gallon tank? Will yellow labs will be ok with Ram cichlid? Which cichlids will go well with yellow labs and how many can they be in 35 gallon tank?

I personally wouldn't have anymore than 6.no you cannot keep rams with them, rams need ph6-7.5 while yellow labs need a ph of about 8-8.5. A good fish to go with them would be powder blues or electric blues, and then you would have 3 labs to 4 electric blues.

in my opinion, a 35 gallon tank is too small for Labidochromis caeruleus. as with other Mbuna, alot of rockwork is required to establish a proper environment for these species and by the time you've added enough rock, there'll be insufficient room for a proper group (1 male + 4 females).

ramirez requires (does best) in soft, low TDS water with a slightly acid to neutral pH. ALL African cichlids require hard, alkaline water. thus, rams and yellow labs are incompatible.

Throughly agree with liv2padl (what else is new? :p: ). You'll have a tough time keeping yellow labs in a 35 gallon long-term. That being said, you could get away with using the tank as temporary housing, and eventually upgrade them to a 55 gallon once they reach adult size (which can be up to 4", so you see why they should have more tank space).

Yellow labs are about the only Malawi cichlid I would keep short-term in anything under a 40 gallon. Electric blues (if your talking about Scienochromis fryeri) get fairly large and are open water fish, a very bad choice for a small tank.

If you are considering getting into Malawi cichlids, I highly suggest you do a lot of research first, to understand the requirements of these fish.

On the other hand, if you set up a South American/Central American tank, then keeping a pair of German Blue Rams would be very fitting and work well in a 35 gallon.
