So I have a 6 week old freshwater tropical aquarium with 2 swordtails, 2 dwarf gouramies, 5 GLOfish, and 1 angelfish. I have read MANY threads regarding angels in a 29 gallon tank, but in the end I decided it would be ok (although not "ideal"). Anyway, I want to add some inverts in the next 2-3 weeks mostly for visual appeal more than any algae issues. There is really no algae that I can easily see and no direct sunlight gets to the tank. All the plants are artificial as well. After reading about cherry/ghost/bamboo/amano shrimp, I think I would like the Amano mainly because they are a little bigger and seem a bit hardier. How many of these guys should I really get though if I don't have algae? I have seen people say 1 shrimp per gallon, but I'm assuming that's for a planted tank or one with lots of algae. At first I was thinking 2 or 3, but I wouldn't mind more. I also wouldn't mind a snail (or more, but I here they can take over the tank when breeding), or possibly a freshwater clam. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm not sure if/how I should be taking these additions into consideration for the "inch per gallon" rule as when the fishes grow up the tank will already be nearly "maxed out". Thanks a lot!!
