How many neons for 35 gallon tank?

If ALL you are going to keep is one species, then you can get away with probably 20-30 of them. if you want other tetras or other species as well, then keep a school of 10 or so and add the other fish.OmriUria said:

Add a school of 6-8 Cory Cats for the bottom, and possible a Centerpiece fish like a Dwarf Gourami or even a pair of them.

If you add a mean flame dwarf or dwarf turquoise gourami you could probably see some nice schooling going on.

Agreed.....I would go with a BIG school....50 might be pushing it though. If that is all you are wanting.....might I suggest Cardinals however, instead of neons....granted they do not school as well, but they are way more beautiful.....pop some peat moss in your filter, have some amazon swords and other plants like that along with some black water...and your cardinals will sparklemisopeenut said:
BUT, dont' add all at once ofcourse....10 one week.....10 two weeks later, another 10 another week, etc....they are small, so if you have a nicely planted tank and a stable tank, you can probably get away with 10 at a time, once a week or once every two weeks (better)....but you don't want to do more than that, or you might have a major ick problem.
If you are going to keep them though, along with the peat moss and blackwater....put your temperature up to like 28+

You can put a lot in there because they are a small fish. Depening on the surface area of your tank. If your tank is more long than high, I would go with around 50. You can always get a bunch and then add another batch later if you decide you need more.
Id go with 30 Neons and some Gourami's and some Corys.
with some areas of dense planting it will look lovely.
