Quite a few. Probably right up to 20 fancy (not comet and fantail), but you'd need major filtration... Think filtration rated for about 600 gallons or more... Less fish would lighten the load a bit, but they still take a lot.
why would i want goldfish..well the past year ive had large aggressive central american cichlids in the 220g and they are killing each other. im gonna end up with one cichlid eventually because of all the fighting. im not happy looking at fish that are beat up all the time and finding murdered victims
so next month im going to give them away, i guess to various petshops
goldfish are cute and peaceful, with those lion heads all bubbly
Fancy goldfish are responsible for getting me into the hobby.... once my oscars, blue dempsey, and bichirs all croak from old age (yeeears from now) I'm making my tank a goldfish tank.
Big ups on the idea, and sorry to hear about your other fish, post pics when your done setting up please.
right now ive been running 2 filstar xp3 filters
its been doing ok for the messy large cichlids...not sure how large goldfish poop measures up to the cichlids
a few more questions..
1. would it be ok to NOT feed everyday? i plan on feeding pro-gold sinking pellets every other day. is this ok?
2. would it be ok to add a few koi? i understand the competition for food issues but is that the only reason? do koi harrass goldfish?
3. i have a heater now and the temp is 78. the tank is down my basement, i was wondering if i can go unheated? which will prob bring down the temp to about 68-70
