Hey i have 6 danios, 2 barbs and 2 shrimp in my 10g, u think thats maxed out, or can i add more danios, they dont look too much like a school b.c they arent big in number :shark:

hey kasakato i once kept 5 danios in a 5gallon for over a year and then i accidentally left the heater on and they kind of blew up. but they were fine so i think he could add more to his 10

actually i started 3 out in a 1g and they were perfect, i only added more b/.c i switched them to a 10g. and they have more than plenty of room, some skim the top soime lay low in the bottom and swim around the decor and rocks. The only time they meet up and swim together and in unison, is when i do water changes, for about 30 minutes after the water change they group together along with the barbs. then they go off on their own again, chasing the females

I have 5 in my 10g and they get along splendidly. All this talk about them being too fast ... do you expect them to ram into the glass? They have plenty of room to swim, turn around, etc etc. As long as no obstructions block the top part of the tank they should be speedily doing laps with pleasure.

Heck mine even do zig zags inside of the little castle construction from time to time.

Go for it :dive2:

If you think thata dding more will cause them to school then you are mistaken. Few fish will school for long in captivity once they figure they are safe. The only way to get them to school is to add something they are afraid of like a larger fish. But of course you can't do that in a 10 gallon tank.

And really 3 danios in a 1 gallon? Now that isn't a very good thing to do.

maybe im wrong but have you added up the maximum inches in fish. almost nothing lives well in a 10 gallon except a few. just the danios are at a limit of 5 with no other fish. they grow to 2 inches and that really needs a 29 gallon or 55g if you can afford it.

you seem way over stocked. 10 gallons is just to small.
