I went out and bought two cuttle bones for my snails today. The only way I've been able to keep the on the bottom of the floor is by piling a bunch of gravel on top of it. So very little is actually where the snails can graze on it. Does anyone have a better way to sink it?
Also, how long after putting a cuttle bone in does it take for the water to clear back up?

ROFL!

Just leave it in the gravel like that for a bit and it will eventually become water-logged and sink on its own.

Yeah when I feed it to the turtles, it floats around for a few days then eventually sinks.

I haven't tried it yet, But Reiverix claims you can drop it in a pot of bpiling water and it will waterlog very rapidly. Reiverix is seldom if ever wrong when he posts stuff so it's definastely worth a try.

try clipping it on to a veggie clip.

Hi,
I read your article on high calcium foods for snails and I needed to get them in quickly. I boiled rubber bands for 10 minutes and then tied the veggies to a stainless steel spoon which sank to the bottom. Doesn't look very pretty but it works. Maybe it'll work for the cuttlebone too.
