I haven't been taking care of my java moss lately and there's algae all over it. There are some bright green regions and dark regions, but how do I so called nurse my java moss back to life and remove the algae w/o killing the plant?

yeah i believe so, they're almost like cobwebs in my java moss and a dark shade of green.

Java moss is pretty stoic. If it's rooted on something, tear it up, leaving the rooted portions. It will grow back nicer than it was before. I strip my wood down to the rooted portions of my moss every couple months and it always comes back with a vengeance. You can also pick out the nicer portions of what you rip up and plant it elsewhere in your tank.

In biorb anti algae packs there is this white powder stuff. It is great stuff. Just put it in. It binds it up and makes it float so it will get sucked up by the filter. Or you could use Interpet's 'Anti Hair Algae'

Use a toothbrush and swirl it around the hair algae. It usually picks up tons of hair algae. It makes it easier if you keep the moss in the water while doing so. When you take it out of the water, the moss and the algae becomes flaccid and hard to take apart.
Don't give up the first time you do it, it takes a bit of patience and practice!

Use a baby medical syringe and squirt hydrogen peroxide over the moss. H2O2 is heavier than water and will sink. It also will transform from H2O2 into oxygen and water (H2O) I use 2 ml per gallon, if used at that rate, it's actually beneficial to livestock. It will boost the oxygen level in the water.
The algae will turn pinkish/orange in a few days and then disappear.
I’ve never used it on Java moss but that moss is very tough to kill.

This is what I did. I had staghorn algae and my moss was toast; ripped it out and the little bits that were stuck to the wood are growing back very nicely.
