My pleco stays inside his driftwood all day untill feeding time, and he woll come out, and suck on the glass.

I give them 2 sinking pellets, but all of my bottom feeders eat it (2 corys, 2 YoYo loaches, and 3 clown loaches)

How can I get my pleco to feed?

Also, I have 3 clown loaches, and 2 of them come out and eat their sinking pellet, but one just stays inside their hiding place.. what should I do?

Plecos eat the driftwood so dont worry about him not feeding. I am sure he is eating to his hearts delight! Clown Loaches like to hide alot during the day, sometimes if you set up the arrangments different it can make a difference in the presence of certain fish.

plecos rasp on driftwood to get roughage but it won't give them all the nutrition they need. try sliced of cucumber or zuchini(sp) tied to a rock. If you dip spinach leaves in boiling water for a couple seconds they usually like that too. HTH

Also try feeding algae wafers... Only herbivourous fish seem to like these, but they contain fish meal so they will provide protien for your pleco.

I tried that lastnight, and my YoYo loach, and one of my clown loaches was eating it. I was trying to look in the tank, and my mom turned the room light on, and i saw my pleco dart to about where the wafer was around the tank, so he might of been eating it.

Chico is right. Veggies is the way to go...mine loves em...I feed him a slice of cucumber and squash every other day. After he gets adapted to it, he will be on those veggies like white on rice. I found its a good idea to warm the veggies up on the stove to soften them up some, but not too much.

spartan brought a good point too. I always feed mine right in the front. I always drop the veggies in the same place. I try and make life as easy as possible for him.

Is it possible for him to eventually get "used to seeing" me and get to the point he "knows" me?

The only problem with feeding a pleco just veggies is that all plecos, and common plecos in perticular, need to have protien in their diet. IMO keep trying the algae wafers, all my plecos love 'em.

I'd probably try feeding more. Clown's are very stingy w/ their food. Mine don't even share w/ each other, let alone my Zebra's or other fish. 2 pellets is not a whole lot of food. I normally drop about 10-12 shrimp pellets, 8-10 algea wafers, and a smidge of flakes in every nite, going about 1 nite a week w/o food at all. I usually cut back if I add a treat like cucumber, but that's just me. Maybe I overfeed(my clown's are only 3") but they're some healthy, robust looking buggers.
