If it's a square or rectangular tank t's just a formula - L x W x H / 231 = US gallons. If it's a hex or bowfront, hopefully the site you found will help 
For example:
36 x 18 x 24 = 15552
15552 / 231 = 67.3
These are the outside measurements of my tank, if you exclude the glass thickness it's 65g.
