hi i have 5 geo surinmensis with 6 gold sevs, also there is 1 firemouth and a common plec in my 350l [76g] tank. I would love some red line torpeado barbs aas they are perfect tankmates but i cannot find any at present. They have been recently put on the endangered list so i will not buy any shipped in either.

Do any of u clever fish peeps recommened any species of cichlid or whatever that would fit nicely in this very chilled out tank. The FM is now the boss so u can imagine how peaceful the sevs and geos are at present.

Any help would be bonza!!!!!

Thanks for yr imput. As i forgot to say i buy schools of stock pick out the best for breeding and sell the remainder. I have 150 geo braziliensis fry with there parents growing out in a 50g already. The current fish in the 350 are all under 4" bar one geo who is about 5". When a pair form wich will not be for about 6 months for both species ill transfer them to the breeding tank in my kitchen. The 350l tank is 76 uk gallons but about 90us so i ruffly have enough space for 8 or 9 adults

I know many fish keepers say this but i am planning a 108x18x30 tank in my new extension where most of my adults will go including the tankbusting common plec. My 350lt will them become a discus tank only with clean up crew.

The addition of more fish to my 350 will have to include a higher rotatation of water changes. The reason i picked torpeado barbs is that they will complement the tank and there behaviour is perfect as they like fast water wich means they will swim at the water line in the current away from the other tankmates. Still as i cannot locate any I am open to suggestions??????

How quick u all are to scold but nothing but a whimper when corrected!!!!! Anyone can chip in there 2c, any ideas welcome..... Thanks

Well, when you don't give us accurate information what else are we supposed to say? A responsible fishkeeper would not recommend any more fish (and would probably say to get rid of a few) given the first post.

Anyways, torpedo barbs IME will wither away and die with any form stress. Usually, they will end up not eating. Given the fish in your tank I would not recommend them. Even though sevs and geo's are not necessarily aggressive they are still cichlids and Il think they would be too boisterous for the barbs.

I have a trigon 350 and off the top of my head it is a triangle shape with a curved front. 90 cm each side and about 128cm curved front, height is 50cm tall and holds 350litres.

Uarus are too large for the space i have left, the fish i am after is a top swimmer but i purchased 4 boesemani rainbows the other day and thet are fine enjoying the tank. the geos are loving them and swimming with them in one big shoal on occasion. The sevs ignore them much as every other fish.

I will be defo slimming down the sev stock once theyve reached maturity. the larger of the sevs are starting to bloom and there spots are comimg out now. They are still all young fish and i believe that growing the fish out together helps with there relationship with each other.

I am a responsible fish keeper and adore my fish. I do get annoyed with the constant acussations of over stocking on aquaria central and mfk but understand that it is a massive problem in the industry. The topic comes up all the time which can be annoying when u are looking for answers for something completely different.

I believe that 10 uk gallons is enough for each fish when it is fully grown depending on size ofcourse. although shoaling or schooling yr fish helps with stress and saves space as individual terroratories aret needed. thanks for all imput again and any boesemani keepers have any tips for me ill be forever in yr debt!!!! cheers all
