Arowana not eating
Hi, desprately need some advice on an arowana thats not eating well. Bought her back home 2 months ago but think she's has only eaten about 8-10 times up to date. She is about 17"-18" and doesn't seem to have any external illness/deasese. Water parameter is fine. No amonia, nitrite nor nitrate. Tempreture reading's fine. Ph level at 6.5-7.0. Even tried using the Tetra Arowana vitamin which is suppose to enhance appetide and health. A little improvement, but still she doesn't eat well. She started eating quite consinstently last two week for about 4days continuously and then just stop all of a sudden. She hasn't been eating for the past 1 and a half weeks. Can anyone help... don't know what to do?? Is it the the new environment?

Only live food, mainly mealworms and crickets. Tried small koi which is still swimming around the tank. Centipedes once a while. And small frogs(which she never touches) My tank is 48"(w)x18"(D)x19"(H). Bout 160l of water in it. Didn't really fill up the tank. here's a pic of her, do you think she is too skinny?

maybe its because she doesnt feel comfortable in that small of a tank. she is already about outgrown that size tank especially if its not even filled all the way. does she swim around or is she acting nervous? ive heard of asian aro's going over 3 months on hunger strikes and be ok.

Swap her over to a tank that is at least 72"L x 30"W x 24"T (875L), and you will likely see a considerable difference in behaviour...I cannot imagine anyone keeping an 18" Asian aro in a 160L tank....even the 10" babies that we import are kept in nothing smaller than 260L down at the shop....and even that is quite temporary.

wow that is a nice rtg!
many ppl actually dont fill their tanks up cuz they can be jumpy. i see a lot of asian people do it. they actually go on hunger strikes though... sometimes lasting up to 3 months when they get to that size. if you are really worried though, try getting some garlic extract and dip the food in that see if she will go for it. as far as the pic goes.. it doesnt look very skinny to me. i think if you need more help, go on monsterfishkeepers.com (sister site) and post your question there. :)
