Yesterday was a day of reading and learning. What I thought was ick is probaley just "egg

spots". I had never seen anything on this post about it. I was so caught up on reading

about ick that I thought what I was seeing was ick.On another site someone was showing

pictures of their Mbuna and they pointed out one of the fish was showing egg spots. I

went in took another look and sure enough most of my fish have egg spots. Yesterday

after asking for a cure for ick I went ahead and treated them with the salt and up'd my

temp some. I felt like giving up on having a tank because of the mistakes I've made. I hope

my fish will be ok(?) What should I do now ? Will my fish be O.K.?

Can anybody tell us about egg spots?

Thanks

^ exactly.

Egg spots in mbuna will in fact be on the anal fin and will just look like part of the colouration of the fish athough they may come and go, as opposed to little pustule of ich.

If you can put up a pic, we can tell you straight away for sure; but if you google ich pics, you'll see the difference straight away.

What to do now :

1) make sure its not ich - post pics here if you can
2) reduce temp back to previous level.
3) I don't know how much salt you have added yet. Do a 20% water change daily for 3 or 4 days should be good as gold.

Don't give up !! These are not just 'mistakes' !!!! They're just what everyone does when starting out :)
