My gf is showing interest in having a low light, low maintenance tank in her new apartment. She's into small tanks. I was thinking something like an eclipse system tank or something might be a good way to start... something all in one with easy to maintain filter etc... but I've never used any of those systems.

any thoughts? what would the perfect low light all in one tank be?

10 gal. - Paint the back black
Dual socket incandescent hood w/14 watt spiral daylight bulbs
A/C 20 Filter
Visi-Therm Stealth 75w Heater
Eco-Complete or Flourite

That's perfect. Set up what FTM suggested.

The nanocube's a good tank, much better than the eclipse systems for planted tanks, though stick to the regular one and not the deluxe if you want to keep a low light setup.

10g with 2 14w CFLs with a Tom Rapids mini-canister filter and a sand bed. Perfect if you ask me.

The eclipses are nice, only problem is filtration and lighting. Both suck, badly. I have a 5g hex, the filter didn't catch much and the light isn't enough to grow much. (though oddly, the tank is still there after weeks of neglect)
