Hi everyone,
Ok not sure what is going on did a wc a couple of days ago all parameters are fine ph 6.0 and has been since tank was cycled all fish have acclimated to this ph. For wc left water out for 24 hrs to make sure and retested ph is definitely 6.0. I dechlorinate the water as always. Ammonia 0 although I did have a little spike a few weeks ago which I had done a wc think I might have been overfeeding and have cut back portions since then. Nitrite 0 nitrate 20.

I am really upset I lost a peppered cory last night unknown cause, my bosemani rainbow the day before unknown cause saw no disease whatsoever on either one no bloating no pineconing nothing! Now this morning I find my other bosemani swimming upside down he has this white fuzzy stuff on his body and fins and his fins are ragged :(. I put him in a isolater for now but thinking I should QT.

I have Maracyn and Maracyn2 in the house and aquarium salt. I have the filter from my 2.5g QT tank in the 36g cannister ready to go. The QT is empty right now should I start it up with the filter and let it run for a little while or can I just fill it with dechlorinated water add the filter, salt and add the fish I really want to try to save this fish but not sure what to do. I am not good at diagnosing disease and have already lost my cory and bosemani the other fish are fine. Here are pics of him. PLEASE HELP!!!!!:help2:

I recommend euthanize. Looks like he has been severely chewed on. He may be ill and can't swim properly and that made him food for the others.

Oh Man this really sucks my bosemani's are my fav fish they were fine so were my cories and I lost one of them too. I feel really guilty the ammonia spike I had a couple of weeks ago I took care of right away with a wc luckily I tested the water before it got out of hand the ammonia was between .25 and .5 now 0 thank goodness. I have a feeling it was due to overfeeding. I actually had lost the first bosemani after that so I know it was probably the ammonia that got to him. But now this one is sick I guess euthanizing is the best bet no chance of saving him in a QT should I atleast try?

You can try, can't hurt. What and how much have you been feeding?

I guess you could put him in the QT but to be honest he looks a goner to me. I would euthanise him.

I feed a variety. Flakes in the morning I alternate giving spirlina flakes and regular flakes either tetra or wardley. Also once a week or so I give bloodworms as a treat or brineshrimp. At night I was told to drop 4-5 shrimp pellets for the catfish or 4 algae sinkable pellets but soon found out that was too much. Now I break apart one algae pellet and alternate with 2-3 shrimp pellets. I have had the rainbowfish for a little more than a year they are my centerpiece now I only have one rainbow left :(. I certainly don't want the fish to suffer if euthanizing is best I will do it. I just feel like a real failure right now this is the 3rd fish I have lost in a week :(.

Are they recent arrivals?

Hi,
I presume that the Boesemani is gone by now? That did not happen overnight, unless you have some serious killer bug in there or some other fish took it out. Fish going upside down are either really sick or have been "owned" by other fish. What do you have in the tank?...and have you checked the temprature? And have you added anything new to the tank?
Good luck
