Hi, I'm new the the forum and I've look around on this forum/online and I only found a handful of heater options for smaller tanks.

Hydor Mini Heater:
7.5 watt - http://www.bigalsonline.com/BigAlsUS/ctl3684/cp18534/si1382454/cl0/hydorminiheater75watt

15 watt - http://www.bigalsonline.com/BigAlsUS/ctl3684/cp18534/si3277163/cl0/hydorminiaquariumheater15w

Marineland Shatterproof Heater:

10 watt - http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+3730+18445&pcatid=18445

My main question is if anyone had any experience with heaters for small 1-5 gallon tanks? Possibly one of the few I listed and would suggest one that works well and keeps the temperature stable. I'm looking to get one for my smaller betta tanks before winter comes. =)

Some information if this helps. The tanks I'm planning to heat is a 1 gallon and a 3 gallon. The ambient temperature in the room will roughly be around 65-67'ish in winter +/- 1 degree.

Thanks ahead for any suggestions/advice/input/replies of any sort.

i have the Hydor one and i believe that what it does is keep the tank ~5 degrees above the temperature of the room, so there might be slight temp. flux

I keep a generic standard 25watt heater in my 3 gallon eclipse tank. I like to be able to dial in the temp. The preset 7w heater I had in there before just raised the temp 5 degrees above room temp, but when the lights in the eclipse are on it causes a 4 degree rise over 8 hours while I am at work.

With the 25 watt in there the temp starts the day at 78 degrees and is still at 78 degrees when I am ready to go home. I figure a constant temp is much better that a 8 degree swing in 24 hours.

Upside - can adjust the temp and it cycles on and off to keep constant temp.

Downside - it is bigger than the presets... and if it were to fail on it would cook Fred (my betta)... Been using it for a year and no problem.

I have a Stealth heater that someone gave me. Its good for tanks up to 8 gallons. If you go to www.thatfishplace.com thats where it came from. Its a great heater and it has a dial so you can set the temp to whatever degree you want for your tank and fish.
