Hello All-

Can anyone tell me what the hairy stuff is on my snail? Up close it looks like small feather dusters of some kind, must be some kind of algea? None of my other snails have it.

My tank is quite blah at this point, but I will add things slowly, starting with more live rock and eventually some more feather dusters, a scorpion fish, and maybe some clams.

Thanks for your help!

looks like some type of hair algae or something Not sure, I know that when my turbos get algae on them either my tangs pick it off or my blue legged hermits, maybe add some hermits or something to do the same or I guess you could take him out and scrub it off, I doubt having that on his shell inhibits him in any way.

The only hair algae I have in my tank is on my turbos shells. I clean it off about once every two weeks by taking the snail out of the water and picking it off. I have one snail I brushed with a toothbrush that is getting a nice purple coralline growing on it shell now. I was going to clean them all but it helps me distinguish between this one and another that is the same size. We named the purple one Barney. :dance2:

That's not hairy..... this is hairy!!!
