Just thought I'd share my odd recent discovery..

I've had my oscar and severum about 6yrs now. I don't feed them live foods other than occasional excess snails or red cherry shrimp from my other tanks. They go nuts for those.. Their main staple is good pellet and dry goods and sometimes veggies.

One of my setups had a few guppies and endlers. They bred over time and now I've got dozens of them. Somehow, given some shared water change equipment, a single young guppy wound up in with the oscar and severum! I didn't discover it until a few days ago during a re-fill after the standard weekly fin-level water change. I noticed it skimming the surface of the very bubbly refilled tank. What is odd about this is they seem to ignore it. It scurries about the surface and grabs bits of food that these big honkers sometimes pump out their gills when feeding. They see it, but let it be? I realize one day it will most likely get gobbled, but it's so odd to see given how actively they'll pursue anything that will fit in their mouths.

I feel like this one Guppy should be given a pardon like a Thanksgiving turkey and let it live given it's good fortune and survival so far - imagine the stories he or she could tell the other Guppies when it comes back home! haha

Still hanging with the big fish. Center top. Kind of hard to see.

It looks like an accidental snack waiting to happen. Rescue the poor thing or let the big boys decide if 1 gets to have a tiny bit'o'food now, of a slightly bigger 1 later. I don't see this as a long term tank mate, lol.

This is part of the reason I don't keep livebearers anymore, too much drama!

Congrads on your new title. IMO, if the Oscars never had any live food before, they may not even realize the Endler is food. I use to have some very large Angels in my tank with Cardinals without having any problems. After many years I lost most of my Cardinals to age, and decided to get some more. The Cardinals at most LFS are so small compared to my Angles but I bought them anyway. My Angels are fairly big, but I am fairly sure they never touch my new Cardinals.
