Just thought I'd share my odd recent discovery..
I've had my oscar and severum about 6yrs now. I don't feed them live foods other than occasional excess snails or red cherry shrimp from my other tanks. They go nuts for those.. Their main staple is good pellet and dry goods and sometimes veggies.
One of my setups had a few guppies and endlers. They bred over time and now I've got dozens of them. Somehow, given some shared water change equipment, a single young guppy wound up in with the oscar and severum! I didn't discover it until a few days ago during a re-fill after the standard weekly fin-level water change. I noticed it skimming the surface of the very bubbly refilled tank. What is odd about this is they seem to ignore it. It scurries about the surface and grabs bits of food that these big honkers sometimes pump out their gills when feeding. They see it, but let it be? I realize one day it will most likely get gobbled, but it's so odd to see given how actively they'll pursue anything that will fit in their mouths.
