Here is a pic of my green terror,I'm new here so I hope it's cool to post pics here. When I got him he was maybe an inch long. The plan was to let him grow out a bit in a 20 gallon, and then to put him in with my Oscars.Well,I think he is living up to his name and will tear up my O's,so he is gonna be stuck in the 20 gallon for a while. We have no room fight now for a bigger tank, and are planning on buying a bigger house next summer after my wife graduates.I am not looking forward to what will probably be 3 or 4 water changes a week if he keeps growing at the rate he is,but I am afraid that is what I am going to end up doing.Right now I am having a problem with cyano bacteria that I am trying to treat with a phosphate reactor, and ROWA phos, and Fluval nitrate remover.Any one have any experience with cyano,or ROWA?
Green Terror is a common name given to 3 types of cichlids.I cannot remember all of them, but gold saum is one of them.So saying it is a fake green terror is not altogehter accurate.

What exactly does that mean? I wish someone would clear that up once and for all. I have one that I was told in another thread was a GT gold saum variety. I'd like to know what it is I actually have.

Welcome to AC. Pics are cool. The more the better IMO. Very lovely fish you have there what ever it actually is. Looks a bit different than mine.

Gold Saums and the other one are usually called false green terrors, and the "original" terrors are called true green terrors.I'll do some searching and try to find the name of the other false terror, and the true terror.

This is where it gets confussing, lol
From what info I have gathered, the gold saum, and one other species are considered the false green terror. The true green terrors are yet a 3rd species that are the "original" green terror. So now a days, green terror is kind of a generic term for 3 different types of cichlids........I think

To unconfuse I will state...

"Do not try and bend the spoon. That's impossible.Instead only try to reallize the Truth ..."

"There is no spoon"

it looks like it would get along with other fish a lot better than the average green terror.
It doesn't.I wanted to let it grow out a bit in a 20 gallon before I added it in with my oscars.I tried to put him in with the O's a couple weeks ago,and he started to tear them up.The terror is about 3 inches, the O's are around 8 inches. So he is back in the 20,for now.
