Does 1 pound of gravel really equal 1 pound of sand, or is sand heavier when wet? Also is there a way to have 3/4 gravel and like the right 1/4 left of the tank be sand? I was thinking of getting like a plastic tray put it in the right side, allow gravel to its sand and fill the container with sand, are there any contraptions like this?
haha. heres another good one. does one pound of feathers weigh the same as one pound of nails? the answer is yes because they both weigh one pound. the volume will not be the same. one pound of sand will be of smaller volume than one pound of gravel, but I promise that they weigh the same.and yes you can do part of the tank gravel and part sand, but you will want to make a clear plastic divider to separate the sand and gravel sides so that they don't mix up too badly when you do a gravel vac.
I heard and read on the official lego site that lego can be used in a tank and is safe. The kind of sand I have in a betta cup came from aquarium from Petsmart, and my manager who knows alot of about fish said the sand was indeed aquarium and and is okay.
Do you think lego wall can withstand the and or it will seep through. A normal net couldn't hold the sand, only one of those brine shrimp nets can. Just to point out how I guess grainy is the word I am looking for to described the sand? That only a brine shrimp net can hold it?
I believe the OP was curious about the effects of water on 1 pound of sand and not questioning whether or not one pound of wet sand weighs more than one pound of wet/dry gravel. After all as you pointed out 1# = 1# ...
However, if you take one pound of dry sand and one pound of gravel and get both of them wet - the result will be that the sand will weigh more 1 pound.
