Grass Pickerel

Very nice fish and great photos!

Great looking!

They've been one of my faves since I caught a Redfin as a kid! A Pickerel you can keep in an affordable set-up! Nice pics! How big is it currently and what size tank is it in?

Great pic and an awesome looking fish!!

I would like to know the Temp. of your water? I catch some interesting patterned Chain Pickerel and Northern Pike while Trout fishin here in cold water country NH. Its fun catchin such a great ambush predator on 4lb. line and tiny trout hook. Id like to see more of your tank

I have two and they are about 9 to 10 inches long. They are in a 135 gallon now but are gonna be moved to either a 75 gal. by themselves or a 150 gal. with some other fish. Reason they are being moved is they laid eggs all over that tank.So I need to get the parents out before they hatch.

The tank is in a 10 x 15 room on the back of my garage. I keep the room around 55 to 60 degrees fahrenheit during the winter. So the tanks stay around 55 degrees. In the summer they get to be about 70 to 76 degrees. These temps are fine for grass pickerel since the ditches they are caught in get to be 80 plus degrees in the summer.

Both Chain pickerel and Northern pike get extremely large compared to Grass pickerel. Grass pickerel top out at around 10 to 12 inches long.Chain pickerel get to be around 24 to 30 inches and Northerns get to be around 48 inches.

That was the first pic I've seen of a grass pike. I've seen sand pike and caught plenty of northern and musky, but that is one beautiful specimen. How big do those get BTW?
