are theyre any good LFS's near Memphis TN? so far my favorite has been Bob's Tropical Fish, but are there any better ones?
Love Memphis, usually there a couple times a year. Have you checked out Memfish on Quince Road?
reaally i thought bobs tropicals was a great store since they quarentine and have a good variety, even though they do have some better prices. i think ill check out memfish since ive heard so many good things about it.Unfortunately, we have few choices for FW stores in town.
Bob's Tropicals is terrible. Horribly overpriced, shelves practically empty, everything unkempt at best. They could be giving fish away, and I'd run the other direction.
Generally, I recommend Memfish, even though I'm not impressed with their customer service skills. Amy Pratt is really helpful, and has lots of FW experience. The owner Richard Rendos is also experienced, but \ acts like most customers are a bother to deal with. Also, if you buy a product from them, make sure they've handed you the FW version, not the marine, as they tend not to not notice/care when they picked up the wrong one. That said, their tanks/livestock are in excellent shape. They've told me they don't quarantine but do dip all incoming stock with Seachem Paraguard to kill off parasites, etc. I've bought fish from them with no problems, and will continue to go to them for livestock.
There's also a store on Whitten Road called Something Fishy. I think their big focus is pond installations, but they also do FW. (And SW, I guess.) Store is well-stocked, and tanks look to be well maintained.
Hope this helps.![]()
what age do you have to be to apply for a job? id love to work there once im 16(in june). No customer is a bother to deal with. Talking with customers is my favorite part of the job. Sadly the job doesn't leave much time for it.
That is why I hire people that are aquarium enthusiasts, and love talking about the hobby. Unlike some stores that hire anyone that applies.
