I got tired of my black skirt Tetras last week so I traded all 5 for 12 of these guys. My plan is to use them for movement in my 29g L201 breeding tank. So far in the 15g qt they are active and peaceful, if not cramped. My question is whether anyone has any experience with these guys, bad or good? And any issues I should watch out for?
Thanks

Presumably the species is Aphyocharax anisitsi which is the common Bloodfin Tetra. You have a good-sized group, which is important especially here as they sometimes get a bit nippy. All the species in this genus have this trait, and keeping them in larger numbers (say 8 or more) usually contains it. But I wouldn't place them in an aquarium with any sedate or long-fin fish, like angels, Congo Tetra, gourami, cichlids. This can be like waving a red flag in front of a bull. In a tank of similarly-active fish and with space they should be fine.

Very cool looking blood-fins. I've never seen those. I've got 5 of the common ones in my 20g (formerly had them in my 10, then my 29). They're a little spazzy and chase themselves at times like zebra danios do, but I've never had any aggression towards other fish with them.

Yeah, I admit I really like the way they are translucent like glass cats. So far mine are pretty sedate but they sure are aggressive eaters. I can't wait to get them in a bigger tank to see them shoal about. I. Still have a few more days of qt left but so far they are healthy and colored up nicely.

Yes, even my common blood-fins are mad eaters. They appear to be pretty smart, in that they pick up on obscure areas where food might settle, and they'll get it. They're also constantly watching other fishes' behavior for anything that resembles eating!
