yesterday i saw ghost catfish and im thinking about getting one. they are cool looking. i would like to know more about them from people that have kept them.

I'm assuming that these are the same that go under the name of glass catfish?

If you are thinking of getting one, get 5 as the minimum. 30 gallons would be the minimum for a small group. They quickly will pine away if kept in less than that.

Definitely keep them in schools. Lonely glass cats are no good. They have to be put in a cycled tank, because they're sensitive to bad water quality. They can be hard to feed at first, but once settled they'll eat anything (I used newly hatched brine shrimp to get them to eat).

I think they are fantastic. I currently have a group of 9, and I'm planning on upgrading their tank and doubling the school in a few months.

Fun to keep - they keep swimming against the currents. Suggest a lightly planted environment to keep them cozy. Agree with RoseFishWatcher - definitely a schooling species.
I've kept them before and found that they did great with a frozen bloodworm diet.
In good health they are clearly transparent. First sign of water quality problem they will turn opaque.
