I need advice about heater and tank compatibility. I want the 50W Fluval E Series Heater for its electronic digital microprocessor. The heater is for the 8g freshwater Nano I'm buying. This heater is rated for up to 15 gallons. Other 50W heaters I see are rated for smaller tanks. What's the difference? Is this too much heater for this tank?

Would this overheat my tank? We leave our house cool in winter and hot in summer because we don't run heat/air at high settings. So I need a heater good enough to heat 8g in winter and not overheat in the summer.

Thanks.

Great product. expensive when compared to the cheaper Chinese products. will work fine in your 8gal.will not overheat, electronic thermostat will easily maintain desired temps. note: it is not completely submersible like some other heaters and is larger and grey in color.consider this prior to purchase.

i would get it. it should be fine in your tank. plus, they seem to be very high quality heaters.
