Well kiddies... After a long night pondering why my Fluval is leaking.. I haven't figured out the reason.. The 'O' ring is nice and secure and I even took it out for the night, but it still leaks around the edges. There are no biubbles comming out of the outtake of the hose, and no loud sounds. It just leaks when I prime it manual with water.. Here's a picture below.

My fluval did (does) this. But it would only leak during a power outage or if it was unplugged. I could never figure it out. O-ring looked good, but I got another one anyway. It still didn't fix it. So it sits now being unused. The only option I would think would be the o-ring, but since I replaced that, I have no idea what else to check. It baffled me, hopefully you can get it figured out.

Use some Vaseline (white petroleum jelly) on the O ring, it's fish safe and will help the O ring seal, I use it on all the O rings in my canisters.

Is the top part seating properly into the canister? Sometimes my Fluvals can be tricky to put back together. Other than that, the o-ring is my next suspect.

Alright, I went over all possible problems with the pump/filter.. It stops leaking after a while, but if you tilt it, it leaks.. I'm pretty sure its the O ring, I looked it over and there was no cracks in it, and it is in good condition. I tried moving around the stuff inside, but it seemed to be sitting fine. I'm leaving it in a bucket for now, but I'm planning on moving onto a Aquaclear 110, or the 70. And get 2 of those big guys and I should be fine.. Here's some pictures of the updated tank.

Now it's just starting out, so maybe when I grow up and I can be as hardcore as you guys are. And as for the cigarettes in that picture.... well, it's a terrible habit but I've told my fish many times they need to quit. **** Gold fish.

I borrowed a friend's Fluval 404 the other week, as short-term additional filtration when I was temporarily overstocked in one of my tanks, and I could NOT make the thing stop leaking- I eventually worked out it was the inlet pipe on this particular pump.

The tank is looking good Casey! But please don't start raising hell spawn in the form of fish!!

Has the filter always been sitting next to the tank like that?

It should be able to sit under the stand, but I see you have a bunch of crap down there.

Try it out and see if the leaking doesn't stop, because the filter is supposed to be below tank level.
